Cardiff Council Disgrace
Cardiff Council Gritting Calamity
Like many other councils Cardiff Council was completely caught out by the recent bad weather with no roads or pavements gritted at all on Monday morning (21/12/2009). To rub salt into the wounds (yes Cardiff Council I say salt very useful this time of the year) as soon as you passed over into Rhondda Cynon Taff the main roads had been gritted by 9am. This situation had not improved later in the day when I travelled back from work as soon as you passed into Cardiff Council administrative area the A470 again became treacherous.
What on earth were the Council doing all day? Other people in and around the city also commented that no gritting had been done during the day light hours leaving roads and pavements to ice over once more when darkness fell. I don’t agree with the compensation culture currently gripping this country but when you see the state of some of the pathways and roads in Cardiff you can hardly blame people for taking legal action against the council.
