Further to my earlier post on the BBC election advert music another track came to my attention recently that is being used by the BBC to advertise upcoming programs. The adverts titled what’s on the bbc this week in contrast to the music used on the election advert is a lovely piano peace a long way from the beats of the election advert music.

Anyway for those interested the music used on the what’s on the bbc this week adverts is River Flows in you by Yiruma a South Korean pianist and composer

BBC General Election Advert http://www.robertdicks.com/films/bbc-general-election-advert/ http://www.robertdicks.com/films/bbc-general-election-advert/#comments Tue, 13 Apr 2010 22:01:41 +0000 Robert Dicks http://www.robertdicks.com/?p=348

The internet is a wonderful invention isn’t it where would we be without it? I have recently been sat at the laptop being very boring trying to get a link building campaign going for football-banter. Very boring, so boring in fact I have had the TV on the background, something that I never do if I’m developing a website – coding and distractions just don’t go together!

Anyway I divulge, the music to the BBC’s “need some clarity on election issues” background music caught my attention being quite catchy so I immedietly turned to the net to find out who wrote the track. After a bit of looking around I found the music is The XX – Intro.

BBC “need some clarity on election issues” advert music.

Artist: The XX

Track : Intro

Avatar at the iMax? http://www.robertdicks.com/films/avatar-at-the-imax/ http://www.robertdicks.com/films/avatar-at-the-imax/#comments Thu, 04 Feb 2010 17:17:58 +0000 Robert Dicks http://www.robertdicks.co.uk/?p=271

I went to see Avatar a few weeks ago and I must admit to having been a bit sceptical with all the fanfare that has been going around but I was pleasantly surprised. As promised Avatar lived up to its billing as a visual feast, quite breathtaking in fact in 3D and I’m sure we would equally be singing its praises if it wasn’t a 3D film.

I still cant decide if it was actually a good film was I so taken aback by the visual feast that I forgot to think about the predictable Bad Guts Vs Good Guys will theĀ  good guy get the girl (yep you get the picture!). Perhaps my view would have been so so different if I had seen the 2D version but then again being so visually awe inspiring would the 2D version left me thinking the same?

Well perhaps I have answered my own question here simply because I am considering watching the 3D version again this time in an iMax cinema. Would I go to see the 2D version? The answer has to be no, its the visual experience I am drawn to and not the storyline.
